Esophagus refers to the hollow tube that extends from your mouth to your stomach and is responsible for the movement of food thereon. Squamous cell carcinoma begins in the thin, flat cells that form the lining of the oesophagus. It most commonly appears in the upper and mid portion of the food pipe.
