Esophagus cancer treatment

Esophagus refers to the hollow tube that extends from your mouth to your stomach and is responsible for the movement of food thereon. Esophageal cancer occurs when there is an occurrence of a tumour in the lining of the food pipe. Squamous cell carcinoma

Squamous cell carcinoma begins in the thin, flat cells that form the lining of the oesophagus. It most commonly appears in the upper and mid portion of the food pipe.

Adenocarcinoma

This type of cancer most commonly appears in the glandular cells of the oesophagus, which produces mucus. It commonly occurs in the lower portion of the oesophagus. The common symptoms one may experience with oesophagal cancer are unintentional weight loss, pain or difficulty in swallowing, heartburn, indigestion, vomiting, frequent choking, chest pain and fatigue.
